Kate du Preez is Head of Sustainability and Corporate Affairs for Anglo American's steelmaking coal business. Her role oversees sustainability, environment, social performance and corporate affairs for our Australian steelmaking coal operations, helping to drive sustainability outcomes through our innovative approach to sustainable economic development. 

Kate has nearly 30 years of experience in the mining industry, having worked in underground coal mines and holding management positions across Africa and Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering and was the first woman in South Africa to hold a mine manager’s certificate of competency in coal mining. 

Before joining Anglo American, Kate was the Commissioner for Resources Safety and Health in Queensland, providing independent advice to the Resources Minister on safety and health matters in the resources sector. As Chair of the Coal Mining Safety and Health Advisory Committee and the Mining Safety and Health Advisory Committee, Kate has played an instrumental role in driving deeper collaboration and cooperation in the development of safety and health solutions for the mining industry.
